LEADERSHIP APPOINTMENTS
Trevor Fowler joins Murray & Roberts in
September 2009 to succeed Keith Smith
as executive chairman of the construction
SADC cluster.
Trevor was previously chief operating
officer in the Presidency. He will have
the additional responsibility of expanding
the Group’s engagement into the Rest
of Africa and will lead a restructure of
the construction cluster to deal with
South African fixed investment and
construction market growth after 2010
and the economic crisis that is projected
to extend well into the 2020s.
Orrie Fenn joins Murray & Roberts
in November 2009 and will take over
full executive responsibility for all the
businesses forming the construction
materials and fabrication & manufacture
clusters. Orrie is currently chief operating
officer of PPC.
His appointment will release Andrew
Langham to take up a new appointment
as financial director of Murray & Roberts
Limited.

Murray Easton joins the Group in
September 2009 from the UK where
he has been managing director of
the BAe Systems nuclear submarine
manufacturing program.
Murray will be appointed group chief
engineer with the ultimate responsibility
of leading the Group’s nuclear
engagement strategy.

BOARD
Adv Mahlape Sello was appointed an
independent nonexecutive
director of
Murray & Roberts
Holdings and member
of its audit committee
on 25 February
2009. Adv Sello currently serves on
the Johannesburg Bar Council and
is a member of the South African
Law Reform Commission. She is also
chairperson of the Advisory Committee
on Licensing of Private Hospitals at the
Gauteng Department of Health. |

RETIREMENT
Millard Arnold has retired after more than six years as executive director and legal counsel to Murray & Roberts and the office of the group chief executive. Millard, who recently reached the normal retirement age of 63 years, has agreed to return on contract following a short break, to continue with a number of important matters, most notably our engagement with the Competition Authorities and our ongoing process of internal review and where necessary, remedial action. |

After 29 years of
excellent service to
Wade Walker, Steve
Walker will step down
as managing director
of the company in
September 2009. As
part of a well established
succession plan, Steve will be succeeded
by Tadhg Bergin from 1 October 2009. |

OPERATIONS
Gary Wells was
appointed managing
director of Murray
& Roberts MEI on
1 July 2009 and will
become managing
director of the merged
Murray & Roberts
Engineering Solutions
and Murray & Roberts MEI. Gary will
relocate from Dubai in the Middle East
where he has been on secondment from
Murray & Roberts as general manager of
Sama Contractors. He joined Murray &
Roberts in 2006, having previously worked
in various engineering, construction
and development roles for Costain, in
the Middle East and United Kingdom.
Executive director Sean Flanagan will
lead the integration process. Frank
Kruger will remain managing director of
Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions
until the merger is effected and will then
return to the corporate office where his
engineering and technical background
will ensure a higher level engagement
in business development, internal audit
and risk management intervention across
the Group. |

Graham Browne was recently
appointed managing
director of Concor
Civils. Graham
has more than 37
years experience
in the construction
industry having
spent 35 years with Grinaker (later
Grinaker-LTA) and in the past two years
with SPG, the black empowerment
partner of Gautrain Concessionaire
Bombela. |

Laurence Savage returned to
South Africa from
Australia in August
2009 and has been
appointed in an
interim leadership
role at Hall
Longmore, primarily
to ensure the final commissioning of
the ERW upgrade and new coating
facility. |

in October 2009 as
operations general
manager. |

Don Lidburg was
recently appointed
general manager
of Genrec. Don
has had extensive
experience in the
steel fabrication
sector in the
United States (with Havens Steel),
China (United Steel Structures) and
Thailand (Thai Herrick). |

director of UCW
Partnership in May
2009. He was
previously head of
operations at ABB. |
