I am pleased to welcome Mr Gerald (Ged) Evetts to Murray & Roberts. Ged joins our Corporate Office executive team as we position the Group in South Africa’s significant power generation investment program, which is expected to extend over the next twenty years.

Ged has 40 years experience in the engineering and contracting industry in South Africa and the United Kingdom. He joins from the Babcock Group where he has been involved for the past 30 years in various aspects of the power sector, including engineering, construction and project management and maintenance services.

Murray & Roberts played a key role in constructing much of South Africa’s existing power station infrastructure over the past 40 to 50 years. The Group is currently involved in the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor and Eskom’s “Return-to-Service” program, and has submitted proposals and commitments in respect of the Mmamabule Thermal Power Station in Botswana and Medupi Thermal Power Station in Limpopo Province. A significant nuclear program lies ahead, as does a hydro-electric and numerous gas-fuelled power projects.

Ged will work primarily with Malose Chaba as well as the various operating companies engaged in the program, to ensure we have a clear understanding of the resource and performance requirements for our professional involvement.
