| ANNOUNCEMENT BY BRIAN BRUCE GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE | |

It is my pleasure to announce that the Remuneration Committee has approved the appointment of Roland Berndt as an executive director of Murray & Roberts Limited. He has been a member of the Executive Committee since early 2002. Roland joined Murray & Roberts in 1996 on his return to South Africa from the USA, where he had studied for his masters’ degree (MS) in Aeronautical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He previously secured both bachelor and masters degrees in engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. |
| I asked Roland to assume the position of Group Chief Engineer in
August 2000, with specific responsibility to engage in the development of a
deeper commitment and capacity in technology and engineering management across
the Group. He has played the key corporate leadership role in the Gautrain bid
process over the past 9 months, and plays a significant role in engaging the
technical and commercial challenges faced by Murray & Roberts in our road
contracting activities. Roland was Technical Director of the AWI Group during a difficult period for the Group with that investment, including a period on site at the plant in Canada. He also played a key early role in crystallising our challenges in housing and property development between 1997 and 1998. Brian Bruce
