New appointments at Murray & Roberts Holdings Dr Namane Magau, former director of group human capital services at the SABC and previously executive vice president of human resources at the Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has joined Murray & Roberts as an independent non-executive director with effect from 8 September 2004. She serves as president of the Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa and is a non-executive director of Santam bank and Thebe Investments. Michael McMahon has been appointed an independent non-executive director with effect from 8 September 2004. Michael was previously chairman of Impala Platinum and executive chairman of Gencor. He currently serves as a non-executive director of Goldfields and Impala Platinum. Imogen Mkhize has been appointed an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2005. Imogen is CEO of the 18th World Petroleum Congress, an international event to be hosted by South Africa this year. She was previously executive chairperson of the Zitek Group and has extensive leadership and management experience in the corporate and non-profit sectors. In 2001, the World Economic Forum recognised Imogen as a Global Leader for Tomorrow. She serves on a number of boards including Sasol. Royden Vice has been appointed an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2005. Royden is presently CE of Waco International. Prior to this, he was CEO of Industrial and Special Products of the UK-based BOC Group and chairman of African Oxygen Limited (Afrox) and Afrox Healthcare. Royden has extensive global leadership experience, having lived on three continents – America, Africa and Europe. Professor Willie Esterhuyse an independent non-executive
director since 1993 has indicated that he will retire from the board with
effect from 28 February 2005. More Appointments Management Pallello was previously with Transwerke, where his most recent responsibility was centre manager (Coach Business), based in Cape Town. He also acted as national business manager (Coaches). Pierre Zeeman has transferred to Murray & Roberts Steel where he has been appointed financial director. Pierre joined Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions in 1988 and had been financial director for the past five years. Graham Mullany has been appointed financial director of Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions, having transferred from Murray & Roberts Construction. Graham joined the group in 2002 with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. Gerhard le Grange has been appointed financial director of Murray & Roberts Construction. He was previously financial director of Roads and Earthworks and before that he worked at Tiger Brands and Plascon. Frank Kruger has relocated to the corporate office to leverage his knowledge and expertise in support of international operations director Peter Adams in respect of Cementation Canada. He will also support Roland Berndt in respect of the Clough Murray & Roberts joint venture in Perth Australia. Anton van Olst takes responsibility for the mining &
minerals activities of Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions, bringing
his many years of experience in the sector, much of it with mining group

New company secretary Sandi Linford was appointed as company secretary to the board on 1 November 2004. Sandi is the former group secretary of Altron, where she had overall responsibility for six listed companies. She developed her early career with Frame Group under the guidance of Mervyn King, who was chairman of Frame at the time. |
