He succeeds Sean Flanagan, who has led the development and transformation of MRES over the past seven years. Sean is managing director-designate of the new mining contracting business to be formed with Murray & Roberts RUC following finalisation of the acquisition of The Cementation Company Africa Limited.

Phillip is an electrical engineer (Wits 1985) with an MSc (Computer Technology) from the University of Sussex (1990). He joins Murray & Roberts from Stewart Scott where he has been chief executive of their Industrial Division, which was formed in 2002 following a merger with his business Karabo Engineering.

Phillip has a strong entrepreneurial background that followed has formative years in the industrial sector with AECI, Anglo Alpha and Eskom. He is an active participant in industry, professional and government associations and has a strong business interest in the power and energy sector.

The directors of Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions fully endorse the appointment of Phillip. A decision on the positioning and board structure of Murray & Roberts MEI will be communicated in due course.
