Murray & Roberts rebuilds Makro
Murray & Roberts has been awarded the contract to rebuild the Makro shopping centre in Woodmead which was destroyed by a fire in May.

Work on the project is racing ahead, as the date for handover to the client, Massmart, is October 2001.

The development involves the reconstruction of the shopping complex. With the exception of the foundations, two small suspended slabs and the bulk of the parking area, the entire store is being re-built.

The area to be rebuilt will include approximately 16 000m2 of distribution and trading floor warehouse with the associated administration and back-up areas. Around 600 tonnes of structural steel and 25 000m2 of roof sheeting and side cladding will be required for this construction.
